Grayslake receives ComEd grant to replace lights
The village of Grayslake was awarded a $25,000 grant by ComEd to help fund the replacement of the lights at village hall. Once the lights are upgraded to energy efficient LEDs, the village expects a 67 percent reduction in yearly energy usage at the building at 10 S. Seymour Ave.
In the last year the village also has received grant money to update the lights at the public works building, 585 Perry Ave., which reduced the building's energy consumption by 80 percent.
"The award of multiple energy consumption grants over the last year has helped us greatly reduce the energy consumption at public facilities and achieve some of the goals set forth in the village's sustainability plan," village management analyst Chase Muscato said.
