Buffalo Grove Park District Vice President is Chairman-Elect of Leading Statewide Association for Parks

Adriane Johnson, Vice President of the Buffalo Grove Park District, is Chairman-Elect of the Illinois Association of Park Districts' (IAPD) Board of Trustees.

Johnson joined the IAPD board in 2015. As Chairman-Elect, she will assist the association with its mission of advancing Illinois park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies in their ability to preserve natural resources and improve the quality of life for all people in Illinois. Johnson will work with the 19-member board to advise the association in providing service, research, advocacy, public awareness and educational programs to its membership of more than 360 park, recreation and conservation agencies and more than 100 affiliated business partners.

"We are fortunate to have her working to advance the mission of parks, recreation and conservation statewide as the Chair-Elect of the IAPD Board of Trustees."

Johnson serves on the IAPD Ambassadors, Board Development, Constitutional By-Laws, Executive, Membership, Nominating and Program Committees, as well as the Research Advisory Council. She also serves as the IAPD Co-Chair on the IAPD/Illinois Park & Recreation Association (IPRA) Joint Editorial Committee, is the Events Chair of the IAPD/IPRA Conference Committee and is a member of the IAPD/IPRA Joint Legislative Committee.

Johnson was elected to the Buffalo Grove Park District's board in 2011. She serves as the district's Chairperson of the Personnel Committee and board liaison to the Marketing and Public Relations Department and the Environmental Action Committee.

Johnson is a certified Human Resources professional and has more than 20 years of experience in HR with expertise in compliance management, talent acquisition and development, employee relations, workforce planning, program development, project management and compensation and benefits management. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Columbia College and a Master of Jurisprudence in Business Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

She is a member of Rotary International, a Commissioner with the Village of Buffalo Grove Board of Fire and Police Commissioners and is actively involved in the pro bono movement through her volunteer service at the Taproot Foundation.

IAPD was established in 1928 and is the oldest state association for parks, recreation and conservation in

America. The association serves more than 2,100 elected park, recreation and forest preserve district board members who govern more than 360 agencies employing 40,000 individuals.

IAPD strives to improve Illinois' quality of life through park districts, forest preserves, conservation and recreation agencies by establishing grants and other new revenue streams for park land, facilities and services; educating the public about the positive effects parks and recreation have on communities; and meeting the problem of decreasing open space in Illinois.
