The last good president
Lyndon Johnson was the last good president. He pushed through legislation for Medicare, Medicaid, Civil Rights Voting Act and generally tried to create a Great Society. Unfortunately, he had no clue regarding foreign affairs, with Vietnam becoming his Waterloo.
Since then, we've had a crook, an appointee, a peanut farmer, an actor, an oil man, a philanderer, a wimp, a symbol and a dunce.
The best of that bunch was Herbert Walker Bush. I think he really did believe in a "thousand points of light." He stood up for Kuwait, leading a wide coalition to victory in a short war. He tried to keep spending within budget, but even he had to surmise that trickle-down economy does not work and he became the first Republican to raise income taxes since William Taft.
