Rezoning parcel will damage community

I wanted to let you know that we are opposed to the plan to change zoning on Route 47 from productive farmland and housing to industrial use.

We are blessed with a wonderful rural/farm/residential community, which will be damaged or destroyed with a 750-acre industrial rezoning area. It will affect the total dynamics of the community.

I've been told that there would be almost 1,000 semi-tractor trailers moving in and out with docks and parking for over 2,000 vehicles. There are many residential communities on both sides of Route 47 which will be negatively affected with a reduction in home values as well as real estate taxes to the community. Traffic, noise, congestion, pollution, and automobile safety will be drastically affected.

In addition, the area in question has tremendous traffic of school busing as well as Waubonsee Community College students and teachers, which would be dangerous for all with semi-tractor tailors pulling in and out 24 hours a day.

Traditionally, these uses increase the crime factor of a community and certainly will affect the rural atmosphere of Sugar Grove and the safety of the whole community.

We strongly hope they reconsider and relocate this project to a different, more industrial area that would not affect residents, school traffic, safety and home values. I have noticed that there are several large vacant properties on 47 that could be considered. There is one site with an existing traffic light across from Waubonsee and several further south near 47 and Galena with minimal housing close by.

I understand there is interest in growing the tax base of the community, but this is not the way to proceed. Please get word out and we hope this project is not approved.
