Young Naperville Singers perform with the Cor Cantiamo Feb. 10

The Young Naperville Singers present "Catalyst," a concert collaboration between its three most advanced choirs and Cor Cantiamo, a 24-voice professional choral ensemble.

"Catalyst" will take place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville. Wentz Hall is located on the campus of North Central College at 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville, IL 60540.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the Young Naperville Singers website at ynschoirs.org.

The idea for the "Catalyst" concert was conceived by Dr. Eric Johnson, conductor of Cor Cantiamo, and Angie Johnson (no relation), artistic director of Young Naperville Singers.

The two artists agreed on the power of music to effect change for humans, and to help young people face the pressures of modern life.

The concert will include the music of composers from many eras, including Hassler, Britten, and Mulholland. There will even be a number from "Dear Evan Hansen."

Bella Voce and Bella Cantare, under the direction of Angie Johnson, are the two most advanced female ensembles in Young Naperville Singers, and Canto Vivo, directed by Brett Goad, is the advanced male ensemble. Young Naperville Singers is excited to celebrate its 35th year of encouraging young people to sing, grow and lead.

This organization has grown from its founding into a 10-choir, 400-voice musical powerhouse. Founded in 1984 by Helen Grubbs, the Young Naperville Singers continues to grow and attract singers from a wide range of communities in the western suburbs of Chicago. Singers from first- through 12th-grade audition for Young Naperville Singers, whose mission it is to sing with excellence, to share music with the community and the world, and to lead the way to new musical vistas.

Cor Cantiamo is a professional 24-voice touring choral ensemble, conceived and initiated in 2009 by Eric A. Johnson, esteemed director of choral activities at Northern Illinois University.

The ensemble is comprised of professional musicians in the Chicago area and Northern Illinois area brought together by a love of fine choral music. The group's vision is to perform contemporary choral compositions of the highest quality and promote the continued creation and success of such compositions and the composers who write them.

Visit the Young Naperville Singers website, ynschoirs.org, for tickets to the "Catalyst" event on Feb. 10.
