Rutgers player suspended after domestic violence incident

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - Rutgers University has indefinitely suspended basketball player Caitlin Jenkins following her arrest on simple assault and criminal mischief charges.

Jenkins did not play in Sunday's road game at Minnesota and the team announced her suspension in a post-game notes release, citing a violation of team policy.

The Asbury Park Press reports the senior forward was arrested Saturday afternoon by university police in connection with a domestic violence incident that occurred in New Brunswick, but further details have not been disclosed.

Jenkins was released on her own recognizance. She and Rutgers coach coach C. Vivian Stringer declined comment through a university spokesperson, and Jenkins attorney has also declined comment on the matter

Jenkins has averaged six points and 6.8 rebounds per game for the Scarlet Knights.
