Metra adds express weekend trains during Chicago Auto Show

CHICAGO (AP) - Metra is adding trains that will run directly between Blue Island and McCormick Place on weekends during the Chicago Auto Show.

The transit agency announced Monday that hourly express service will connect with extra weekend trains running between Joliet and Blue Island-Vermont Street on the Rock Island Line. That will allow rides to transfer to a Metra electric line train the McCormick Place.

The Chicago Auto Show runs Feb. 9 through Feb. 18.

Customers may also drive to the Blue Island Station. Parking fees will be waived during the show's two weekends.

They may also save by buying the unlimited-ride, $10 weekend pass. And with Metra's Family Fares, up to three children 11 and younger may ride free with an adult.

Metra tickets are available via smartphone app.
