Driver seriously injured in head-on crash in Des Plaines

One person received life-threatening injuries in a two-car, head-on crash in Des Plaines near the intersection of Wolf Road and Wieboldt Drive Tuesday afternoon.

Information about the drivers in the crash was not made available by Des Plaines police Tuesday. The 1:51 p.m. crash was between a red Honda CRV and a red Infiniti. The driver of the Infiniti was heading south on Wolf Road and was approaching the railroad tracks. The driver of the Honda was heading north on Wolf Road on the other side of the tracks, according to the news release issued by police Tuesday evening.

According to witnesses, as the Infiniti was crossing the tracks, the driver veered into oncoming traffic and struck the Honda head-on.

The driver of the Honda was rushed to a hospital by the Des Plaines Fire Department with life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been issued yet, according to the police statement.
