Christian Liberty wins regional opener

Christian's Liberty Academy's girls basketball team kicked off play in its own Class 1A regional semifinal with a 47-29 triumph over No. 5 seeded Schaumburg Christian on Tuesday.

Julia Wolke (20 points) and Audrey Law (14 points) led coach Steve Rowland's No. 4 Chargers, who will play for the title at 7 p.m. on Thursday against the winner of Wednesday's 6 p.m. semifinal between No. 1 Newark and Westminster Christian.
