Northwest Central Dispatch System (NWCDS) Achieves Re-Accreditation as Center of Excellence for Emergency Medical and Fire Dispatch

In 2019, the Northwest Central Dispatch System (NWCDS), which provides 9-1-1 dispatch services to Elk Grove Village and 10 other suburban communities, was reaccredited with "ACE" (Accreditation Center of Excellence) status for both Emergency Medial Dispatch (EMD) and Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD).

NWCDS is an intergovernmental consolidated emergency dispatch system which serves a population of about 500,000 people throughout 11 Northwest suburban communities, including Elk Grove Village. NWCDS is also the only dispatch center in Illinois that holds ACE accreditations for both EMD and EFD.

In order to achieve reaccreditation, NWCDS had to meet or exceed many points of accreditation including compliance with protocol standards, training, regular quality assurance reviews, and organizational requirements. These standards and protocols are created by the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch (IAED).

NWCDS first received Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) status with EMD in 2010, and has been reaccredited every 3 years. NWCDS achieved ACE status for EFD in 2016, and this was just reaccredited for the first time.
