Naperville apartment building fire leaves one unit uninhabitable
A three-story apartment building on the 1000 block of Heritage Hill Drive caught fire at 11:46 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Naperville Fire Department.
The first firefighters arrived on the scene four minutes after the initial call and immediately requested assistance, bringing 25 more crew members, the release said.
Crews found a fire in the bedroom of a third-floor apartment and extended a hose to extinguish it.
All residents of the building had evacuated by the time fire crews arrived, but the unit where the fire started was deemed uninhabitable due to fire, smoke and water damage. The apartments on the floor directly below the fire sustained minor water damage but are still livable.
Two residents were evaluated for injuries but didn't require further medical attention, according to the news release.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
