Aurora man charged with weapons and drug offenses after search

A 22-year-old man faces felony weapons and drug charges after Aurora police raided his residence last week and seized two guns and cocaine, authorities said.

Sean T. Bowman, of the 300 block of Evans Avenue, Aurora, is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance, according to Aurora police and Kane County court records.

Bowman, police said, was arrested about 7:45 a.m. Jan. 23 after police executed a search warrant and seized a .45-caliber gun, a 9 mm gun and 3.62 grams of cocaine, authorities said.

Police said Bowman also had three outstanding arrest warrants, according to Kane County court records, Bowman was on probation after pleading guilty in January 2018 to felony unlawful restraint and misdemeanor domestic battery from an arrest in February 2017.

Bowman was sentenced to two years of probation and fined $2,020 as part of the guilty plea in which prosecutors dismissed the most severe charges of aggravated domestic battery, records show. He also was ordered to attend counseling.

Bowman is held at the Kane County jail on $135,000 bail, meaning he must post $13,500 to be released while the case is pending.

He is next due in court Friday and faces a punishment ranging from probation to up to seven years in prison if convicted of the most severe charge.
