Hersey nets fifth win in six games

Hersey's girls basketball team completed a perfect week on Saturday by defeating Glenbrook South 51-47 at The Titan Dome in Glenview.

The Huskies won for the fifth time in six games (3-0 this week) as sophomore guard Mary Kate Fahey led the way with 14 points.

Senior guard Emily Collins added 12 against the Titans (17-6).

The Huskies were coming off wins over Elk Grove on Wednesday and Prospect on Friday.

"I am really happy to come out of this week with three quality wins," said Hersey coach Mary Fendley, whose team (15-9, 5-3) is only one game out of first place with two remaining in the Mid-Suburban East.

"I'm proud of the girls and the way they continue to improve their game as individuals, and as a team."

Sophomore Aya El-Fiky added 8 points and junior Janine Boyan 6 for the Huskies, who host Buffalo Grove (15-10, 4-4) in MSL East action on Tuesday.

Lyons 47, Conant 45: Senior forward Abbey DiSalvo poured home a career-high 20 points to lead the host Cougars (9-14) in the nonconference game. Stephanie Mazurek added 9 while sophomore Neesha Kakuturu and junior Chikere Oduocha each added 6.

Lake Forest 76, Palatine 30: The Scouts improved to 21-6 with the win over visiting Palatine (6-19).
