Sugar Grove sex offender sentenced to 181 years in prison
A convicted sex offender from Sugar Grove who's already serving prison time for one crime has been sentenced to an additional 181 years behind bars.
Noel F. Buhay, 51, of the 1100 block of Dorr Road, was found guilty in November of eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Kane County Judge Donald M. Tegeler Jr. handed down the sentence Friday. Tegeler had found Buhay guilty of those charges too.
Buhay sexually assaulted the juvenile victim, whom he knew, between 2005 and 2008, prosecutors said. He had faced a minimum 51-year sentence.
The sentence is to be served consecutively to a 45-year prison term Buhay is serving for a 2017 predatory criminal sexual assault of a child conviction.
The victim in the first case sued Buhay and was awarded $4 million.
Additionally, Buhay must register for life as a sexual offender, authorities said.
