Authorities rescue 2 from log pile in icy Indiana creek

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities rescued two young people who were stranded on a pile of logs after falling into an in an icy creek at an Indianapolis-area park.
The Indianapolis Fire Department responded Monday to Southeastway Park and found a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man on the log pile in Buck Creek about 21 feet (6.4 meters) from land. They used a ladder to bridge the gap and brought over life vests and blankets.
The young people were returned to land and checked out at the scene.
The department says the two and another 18-year-old man were hiking when two attempted to cross the creek on icy logs. They fell and got out of the water after about a minute.
A hiker who happened upon them about 30 minutes later called 911.
