Letter: Shutdown could lead to real tax savings
The federal government shutdown provides an excellent opportunity to those opposed to Big Government.
With no handouts coming, states have opportunity to find ways to fund their own programs, and to do things their way, free of restrictions.
Illinois, for example, can make necessary cutbacks where federal funds kept things going. Once federal funding is, once again, available, there will be no need for handouts.
Imagine, being independent from federal oversight! If all states do this, our federal taxes must come down, since there will be no further need to fund handouts.
