Believe Project $100 for kids who lost their mom
Editor's note: An earlier version of this story did not properly attribute the request to Kim Jacobs of Huntley.
Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Kim Jacobs of Huntley. Here is an excerpt of her story:
"Three amazing kids sadly lost their mom in October. Their young lives were abruptly turned upside down and our community has graciously rallied around them with love and support.
"We provided home-cooked meals for the family every night for a month and a half so they didn't need to worry about putting food on the table. Classmates, family and friends generously contributed to a GoFundMe account to help pay for college and living expenses.
"This was such a difficult and emotional holiday season for these kids as they celebrated their first Christmas without their mom. I wholeheartedly believe they would be so blessed to receive $100 from the Daily Herald's Believe Project. They have handled this tragedy with such strength and courage, and they deserve to be showered with love and kindness."
• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 daily in January to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
