District 212 hosts incoming freshmen on January 15 and 16

District 212 hosts incoming freshmen on January 15 and 16. After welcoming remarks, incoming students and their families will have the opportunity to learn about the registration process and meet with faculty members. Students also will receive information about core program classes and elective courses. This information is offered to help prospective students make decisions concerning course selections when they register.

Taste of West will be held on Tuesday, January 15, at 7 p.m. at West Leyden High School, 1000 N. Wolf Rd., Northlake. An opening presentation in English will be held at 7 p.m. in the auditorium; and a presentation in Spanish will be held concurrently in the Eagle's Wing.

There also will be a presentation on co.lab at 6:15 p.m. in the auditorium. This freshman program combines five mandatory freshman courses - Biology, English 1, Global Studies, Health/PE and Digital Literacy - into one co-taught, project-based learning experience with the opportunity to earn honors credit. Taste of East will be held on Wednesday, January 16, at 7 p.m. in English in the auditorium, in Spanish in the library, and in Polish in the Little Theater at East Leyden High School, 3400 Rose Street, Franklin Park.

In the auditorium at 6:15 p.m. there will be a meeting regarding co.lab, the program designed to help students become confident, innovative problem-solvers. For information about the college prep and honors credit offered in co.lab, attend an informational session. For more information, call 847-451-3023.

In addition, freshman and their parents are invited to attend Sophomore Parent Night. This event will run concurrently with the Taste of East and Taste of West. Sophomore Parent Night will introduce parents and guardians to the options that will be available to sophomores in the near future. Topics include information on Advanced Placement and dual credit programs, and industry recognized credentials.
