Park Forest man charged with possession of stolen vehicle in Bartlett
A 22-year-old Park Forest man has been charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and criminal trespass to real property after his arrest by Bartlett police following a vehicle crash and foot chase early Wednesday morning.
Bail was set at $25,000 for Daekwon C. Kern, 22, of the 300 block of Minocqua Street in Park Forest at his bond hearing on Thursday. His next court date is Jan. 9
According to Bartlett police, officers were dispatched at 1:50 a.m. to the 100 block of Hillcrest Lane to investigate the theft of a motor vehicle that had just occurred.
Police allege that Kern stole a 1996 Jeep Cherokee and crashed it into a tree on Hillcrest Lane before running north from the scene.
With the assistance of the Streamwood Police Department's K-9 unit, Bartlett officers found Kern hiding inside a shed in a backyard on the 100 block of South Crest Avenue, police said.
