Man shot in chest in Gurnee hotel parking lot

Authorities are continuing to investigate a Friday night shooting outside a Gurnee hotel that left one man hospitalized.

Gurnee police said they responded about 7:38 p.m. Friday to a report of a shooting at a hotel in the 6800 block of Gurnee Mills Circle East. When they arrived, they found a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim, who was conscious and alert, received first aid from officers until the ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital.

Witnesses told police that the man was shot while in the parking lot. The shooter then fled the area in a vehicle.

Police weren't releasing any additional details Saturday.
