Lake County Sheriff's Office names first female deputy chief
The Lake County Sheriff's Office announced this week that Karen Serzynski has been promoted from sergeant to the rank of deputy chief of Court Security, becoming the first female deputy chief in the agency.
Serzynski joined the sheriff's office in 2005, and has since served as a sheriff deputy in the court security, highway patrol and criminal investigations divisions. She was promoted to sergeant in 2012, and served as a commanding officer in the administration, community services, highway patrol and court security divisions.
"I've been impressed with Karen's skill set, aptitude, and dedication to the Lake County community," Sheriff John Idleburg said. "Karen has a proven track record and I have the utmost confidence her contribution in the role of deputy chief will positively impact the sheriff's office and the community."
