Scouting report: Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins in the Winter Classic

The skinny: Boston is 21-14-4 (46 points) and would currently qualify for the playoffs as a wild-card team. The Bruins lost 5-3 at Carolina Dec. 23 and 5-2 to New Jersey Dec. 27, but came back to beat Buffalo 3-2 Saturday. … David Pastrnak, who has at least 1 point in 14 of his last 18 games, has 23 goals and 25 assists to lead the Bruins. Nearly half of his points (10G, 12A) have come on the power play. … The Bruins have 33 PP goals and rank fifth at 26.6 percent. … Going into Monday's games, Patrick Kane was tied for 10th in the league in goals (22) and tied for eighth in points (50). … The Hawks are 8-for-26 (30.8 percent) on the power play in their last nine games. They were 4-for-47 (8.5 percent) in Jeremy Colliton's first 17 games as coach.
