$100 to help woman who has cancer and whose daughter has cancer

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Patricia Graceffa of Sugar Grove. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I have a friend who lives in Big Rock and owns a small business. She has a little daughter who is being treated for cancer at Chicago Lurie Children's Hospital. My friend has gone through a bilateral mastectomy and then found a second cancerous breast tumor.

"She has a blog that she posts to daily. She never complains about anything. She stays so strong for her sick daughter, her husband, other kids, family and friends and she tells us all about the ordeal she is going through and instructs us on what we should do to make sure we all don't fall victim to this disease.

"She has undergone 12 radiation treatments and still has 12 more to go. Although many help with meals and rides and things, occasionally you can tell it would be nice if she could just rest and not have to cook dinner for her family of six.

"I think a little extra cash for her family would make for a nice Christmas outing one night and a fun family dinner that they wouldn't have to worry about paying for.

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 each day in December to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
