Aurora man, 60, charged after police seize 13 grams of heroin

Aurora police confiscated nearly 13 grams of heroin from the apartment of a 60-year-old Aurora man earlier this month, authorities said Monday.

Robert E. Merriweather, 60, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

On Dec. 13 Aurora police executed a search warrant at Merriweather's apartment on the 400 block of Garfield Avenue, Aurora police said in a Facebook post. The police department's special operations, community policing and police dog units took part in the operation, the post said.

Merriweather was booked into the Kane County jail, where he remains on $100,000 bail. He is due back in Kane County court Dec. 27.
