Hoffman edges Woodstock North

Hoffman Estates' girls basketball team wrapped up play in the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic with a 40-39 triumph over Woodstock North on Saturday morning at McHenry High School.

Leading the Hawks (4-13) were freshman guard Ashley Oliver (11 points), sophomore guard Ana Sturgis (9), senior Kate Mongold (9 points) and junior Patricia Wadas (7).

Mongold converted 7 free throws while Sturgis tossed in three 3-pointers and Oliver had one.

Niles West 51, Conant 32: Trailing 20-15 at intermission, Niles West outscored the Cougars 36-12 in the second half to win the second-round game of the Libertyville tourney.

Senior Abbey DiSalvo paced the Cougars (5-9, 1-1 in the tourney) with 11 points followed by classmate Stephanie Mazurek (7) and junior Chikere Oduocha (6). Senior Hannah Shulman tossed in a 3-pointer for the Cougars.
