Believe Project: $100 to help friend who helps addicts in recovery

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Nancy Mulso of Elk Grove Village. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I would like to recommend Judy for the Believe Project.

"Judy is a senior citizen living on a limited fixed income. She is committed to helping recovering alcoholics and addicts despite having many health issues of her own.

"Judy often can't afford necessary medication and goes without, but that never stops her from supporting others in their time of need.

"If Judy was awarded this money, she would not spend it frivolously but on the basic necessities. She recently had surgery and requires the use of a walker, but this doesn't stand in her way of helping recovering women. Before her recent surgery she was a volunteer at a dementia senior home.

"She is one of the kindest souls I have ever met."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 each day in December to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
