Huntley village board approves spending $23.8 million in 2019
The Huntley village board recently approved a roughly $23.8 million spending plan for operations and capital projects in 2019 - a 9 percent reduction in expenses from this year.
Major expenses included in the 2019 budget are:
• $2.1 million allocated for the annual Street Improvement Program, including $1.8 million for resurfacing streets in Georgian Place subdivision
• $385,000 for water main replacements
• $276,800 for the second year of a two-year process to replace financial management software
• $50,000 for upgrades and modifications to the Emergency Operations Center
• $48,000 for the village's share of the cost to extend the Reed Road multiuse path in the Talamore subdivision on the north side of Reed Road from Vine Street east to Route 47. The project primarily is funded through a $192,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The operating fund budget is balanced with $11,918,954 in revenues and expenditures, officials said.
The village board also approved the 2018 property tax levy to be collected in 2019 in the amount of $4,676,115 - an increase of $41,812 from the 2017 levy request. The increase is to cover the cost of the actuarial increase in the village's police pension obligations for 2018, documents show.
