Hanover Township to distribute holiday meal boxes

Hanover Township will distribute holiday meal boxes to qualifying families beginning on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hanover Township Astor Ave., Community Center, 7431 Astor Ave., in Hanover Park.

Meal boxes will also be distributed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14; 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 to Friday, Dec. 21, while supplies last.

Residents can preregister for a meal box, and must provide a valid ID and food pantry card or utility bill. Only one meal box will be distributed per household.

Last year, 504 holiday meal boxes were distributed to township families. Each meal box contains a 12-14 pound frozen turkey or ham, canned fruits and vegetables, coffee, dessert, gravy mix, instant potatoes and stuffing mix.

Holiday meal box sponsors include St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Streamwood, Knights of Columbus Mary's Millennium Council #12801, the Streamwood Woman's Club, the Bartlett Rotary Club and Bartlett VFW Post 11018.
