Believe Project: $100 to help client who always puts others first

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Mary Geraty of Elk Grove Village. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I have a client who is not in the best of health. She has bad knees that need surgery and a disorder called Interstitial Cystitis that causes her pain.

"She won't burden others with complaints, but instead manages to volunteer at a soup kitchen and find extra money that she doesn't have to buy warm coats for underprivileged children.

"In fact, if she receives this monetary award, I see her paying it back to help others that need it more in her eyes. A lovely, lovely deserving lady."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 each day in December to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else. If you'd like the chance to help someone, submit your idea at https://events.dailyherald.com/believe/ no later than Friday, Dec. 7.
