Waszkowski scores 20 as Grant wins

Hunter Waszkowski scored 20 points, Torren Curry added 17, and Grant's boys basketball team defeated visiting Wauconda 58-43 in the teams' Northern Lake County Conference opener Saturday night.

Henry Kusiak had 13 points for Grant (4-2), which trailed 10-6 after one quarter but led 23-19 at halftime and 43-26 after three. Curry sank a pair of 3-pointers.

Donovan Carter led Wauconda (3-3) with 14 points. Nick Rinchiuso had nine.

Libertyville 63, Glenbrook North 54: Josh Steinhaus scored a game-high 19 points, including five 3-pointers, as the host Wildcats won their home opener.

Travis Clark added 12 points, Jackson Watson had 11 and Will Moore scored nine. Libertyville (2-4) also got 8 points from Brian Wilterdink.
