Our Lady of Guadalupe horseback pilgrimage Saturday in Des Plaines
The Archdiocese of Chicago is holding its 7th annual horseback pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Saturday, Dec. 1. The ride will feature more than 100 riders from Club Los Vaqueros Unidos (United Cowboys Club) and their horses.
The procession begins at 9 a.m. at Cook County Forest Preserve Dam No. 1 Woods (East) in Northbrook and concludes about 1 p.m. at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1170 North River Road in Des Plaines, with a special blessing of the riders and horses.
The horseback pilgrimage is a prelude to festivities beginning the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe that includes 24 hours of Masses at the shrine ending the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 12.
