Gun violence is a public health crisis

Once again, a mass shooting has occurred, this time four people killed in the prime of their lives. The lives of their families have been changed forever. And once again the reaction is the same - shock, horror, anger, frustration and sorrow.

When will society finally acknowledge that the epidemic of gun violence is a public heath crisis and needs to be solved accordingly? The easy availability of weapons of mass destruction whose only purpose is to kill and maim is insane and immoral.

This Thanksgiving was the 55th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The time is long overdue to solve the problem of random and senseless gun violence in America.
