A Very Merry Huntley returns this weekend with fireworks, tree lighting and more

Ring in the holiday season on Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, with "A Very Merry Huntley."

The festivities begin from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the municipal complex, 10987 Main St. Shop at the Kris Kringle Market. Vote for your favorite decorated tree. Remember to bring spare change as all donations go to the Grafton Food Pantry.

From 4 to 8 p.m., there will be free activities in the Kids Room, take a free train ride on the Huntley Holiday Express, see the live reindeer, or enjoy hot chocolate and s'mores outside the village hall. Bring your camera for a "Visit with Mrs. Claus."

Stop by Huntley Area Public Library, 11000 Ruth Road, from 3 to 8:30 p.m. for free horse-drawn trolley rides through Parisek Park. Or stop by the library open house.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, shop the Indoor Farmers Market & Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall at First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main St.

From 9 a.m. to noon, check out the church bell choir's popular Cookie Walk.

Take free horse-drawn trolley rides through Historic Huntley from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Kids can make free crafts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The church's handbell choir will perform at noon.

Enjoy free family games, Scholastic Book Fair and more from noon to 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N. Church St.

On the Town Square on Coral Street between Church and Woodstock streets, there will be free hot chocolate and horse-drawn trolley rides through Historic Huntley from 3 to 6 p.m.

Visit with live reindeer from 4 to 6 p.m.

Stop by the Community Pasta Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at Huntley American Legion Post 673, 11712 Coral St.

At 4:45 p.m., the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest winners will be announced.

At 5 p.m., Santa will arrives on a fire truck and light the Christmas tree in the gazebo and town square.

There also will be the holiday fireworks show and pictures with Santa in the gazebo. Bring your camera
