Arlington Heights police write 206 tickets over 11 days

The Arlington Heights Police Department arrested or wrote tickets for 206 violations during recently completed enforcement activities relating to the Illinois Department of Transportation's designated Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement Campaign, Nov. 16 to 26. The enforcement included 101 failure to wear seat belt, 10 cellphone use, and 12 driver's license-related offenses. The department conducted a roadside safety checkpoint and numerous seat belt enforcement zones. The primary focus was to identify and apprehend motorists who drove while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, without using their safety belts, or were committing licensing, equipment or other miscellaneous Illinois Vehicle Code traffic violations.
