Police: Elgin man fought with two in home invasion

A 53-year-old man is charged with forcing his way into an Elgin home Friday night, fighting with two of its occupants and resisting arrest, according to police and court records.

Anthony Walkine, of the 700 block of Wing Street, faces charges of felony home invasion, aggravated battery and four counts of misdemeanor resisting arrest after police were called to the 400 block of McClure Avenue around 11:30 p.m. for a report of a fight.

According to a police report obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, witnesses said Walkine went to a home on McClure about 7 p.m. Friday looking for his daughter.

She wasn't there, and he returned about 11:30 p.m. and forced his way in, fighting with a man and injuring another man in a wheelchair, according to the report.

Police eventually arrested Walkine, but not until after a struggle in which he tried to kick officers, the report said.

Walkine is being held at the Kane County jail on $100,000 bail, meaning he must post $10,000 to be released while the charges are pending. If he does, he is to have not contact with the victims.

Walkine is due in court Wednesday and faces a minimum six-year prison term if convicted of the most severe charge of home invasion.

According to court records, Walkine does not have any previous criminal arrests in Kane County.
