Harper committed to community's trust

On behalf of the Harper College board of trustees, I want to thank the community for your overwhelming support of the recent referendum. We appreciate the trust and confidence you have put into this extraordinary institution. We see firsthand how Harper College changes lives. Our affordable tuition, numerous scholarships including the districtwide Promise Scholarship Program, award-winning international studies program, and outstanding faculty and staff help to ensure that your community college is a viable asset.

We also recognize that Harper is an important source of talent for local businesses working to remain competitive in a rapidly changing environment. The college is an active partner with area employers, emerging as a national leader in apprenticeships and keeping up with industry advancements to prepare students for the workforce of today and tomorrow.

This plan, which does not raise taxes beyond their current level, will support our University Center partnerships, providing the opportunity for our students and community members to remain local when pursing baccalaureate degrees. It will modernize facilities and curriculum to support academic programs in high-demand fields and expand health care and manufacturing labs. We will also maintain and improve campus infrastructure to protect the community's investment. Importantly, this plan also reflects a careful stewardship of the community's tax dollars.

I invite all of you to visit and tour Harper. This is the community's college and we hope you take advantage of all it has to offer.

Gregory S. Dowell, Chair

Harper College Board Of Trustees
