'We are united ... to bring about change'

This is an open letter to the Jewish community in the Northwest suburbs.

The Council of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights mourns with you the murder of 11 people at Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh and others who were wounded.

We stand with you, our Jewish brothers and sisters, against hate ideas, hate speech and hate actions.

We are united with you to bring about real changes that foster acceptance and understanding, peace and love among all Americans.

At Southminster we are purposefully engaged to end racism and to champion justice in the Northwest Suburbs and in Chicagoland.

Through our collective efforts, we can work toward this common goal. We can make a real and lasting difference.

Rev. Barbara Gorsky, Rev. Elizabeth (Liz) Nickerson, church council and staff
