Caravans don't want to assimilate
To letter writer Tom Conley: OK, so the Baby Boomers are retiring, I understand that. And jobs are outpacing workers. But these "caravans" coming here expect to be let in with no questions asked. They do not want to assimilate to the American way of life. They carry flags from their own countries and wave them and act like they are so proud of their home country.
If they love their home country so much, why are they "escaping" from it? Why didn't they take the energy they wasted walking thousands of miles and change their own country? Why should we open the doors and just let them come in and collect on our benefits that we have worked for and paid for all our lives?
No, Tom, if these migrants want to come here, they need to do it the right and legal way and not just storming the border and expecting to walk right in.
