Aurora man charged in two restaurant burglaries
A 60-year-old Aurora man is accused of robbing two downtown Aurora restaurants on Wednesday, officials said.
Jerry R. Miller, of the 200 block of East Galena Boulevard, has been charged with two counts of burglary, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.
According to police, the owners of La Quinta de los Reyes, on the 0-99 block of East New York Street, received security alerts on their phones and arrived at the restaurant as Miller was leaving the building, and one of the owners chased him until an officer arrived about 11:22 p.m. The officer noticed Miller looked like a man seen on surveillance video burglarizing Aurora Pancake House, on the 300 block of North Lake Street, earlier, around 2:15 a.m., police said. In both cases, there was forced entry and undisclosed amounts of cash were taken, according to the release.
Miller is being held on $75,000 bail at the Kane County jail.
