Palatine Turkey Trot returns Thanksgiving morning

Pregistration ends at 7 p.m. Thursday for the 38th annual Palatine Park District Turkey Trot, taking place Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 22, at Harper College.

The event includes a 2-mile run at 8:30 a.m., a 5-mile run at 9 a.m. and a Drumstick Dash for children up to age 10 starting at 10 a.m.

All participants signed up by 7 p.m. Thursday will receive a complimentary long-sleeve hooded pullover. Goody bags with information and products from event sponsors will be given to the first 2,000 registered runners.

The preregistration entry fee is $25. It goes up to $30 on the day of the race. Groups of six runners or more can register for only $20 per runner and group registrations must be completed by the preregistration deadline. A family discount also is available - if two family members pay full race fee, all remaining family members pay $10 each for preregistration only. All family members must reside in the same household.

Registration can be done online at www.palatineparks.org, or in person at the Community Center, Birchwood Recreation Center or Falcon Park Recreation Center.
