Inspyr Studios to host fundraiser for brain cancer research

Inspyr Studios, a boutique cycle, strength and restorative fitness studio, is partnering with the Brain Up organization to raise funds for brain tumor research.

Inspyr will host its Train for the Brain event at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the studio, 2924 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights. The fundraiser will feature Inspyr's signature Crossover class: A 60-minute half spin, half strength hybrid workout.

Raising money for brain tumor research is a cause that is near and dear to Inspyr part-owner Amy Winter, having known several people who lost their lives to the devastating disease. She wanted to do something to help other families prevent the same heartbreak.

"My family has a close relationship with the Julius family, who lost their mom, Marie, and her brother, Frank, to a brain tumor," Winter said. "Diane Beletti, Marie and Frank's sister, is a friend of mine and I saw directly how devastating it was for her and her family to watch such strong, vibrant and beautiful people - both inside and out - pass away from such a horrible disease."

Winter was approached by Inspyr members Jay and Laurie Deihs about partnering to raise funds for Brain Up. Raising awareness for brain cancer and funds for research is especially important to the Diehs family as Jay's brother recently passed away from a brain tumor earlier this year.

"I lost my brother this year from brain cancer and it has also impacted several friends and neighbors," Jay said. "Laurie and I consider Inspyr our second family. Since the beginning, Inspyr has always supported its members and community by providing its resources and positive energy to help those in need."

The Crossover class is open to the public with a minimum $25 donation required to attend. After class, Inspyr will have prizes, snacks and cocktails as a way to say "thank you" to all those who attend.

"My hope is that our fundraiser raises enough money to help Brain Up with their research for a cure," Winter said. "We are so happy to be able to help in any way that we can. I am so excited because this fundraiser is gaining momentum. We will have a DJ, raffles, T-shirt sales, food, drinks and much more. It's going to be a great day for a great cause."

All are welcome to stop by for food and to donate without having to attend the Crossover class. Entries for raffle opened Monday, Nov. 12. Raffle items will be on display at the studio with tickets available for purchase. Winners will be drawn at the Train for the Brain event.
