Indiana man convicted as teen to enter home detention next

WARSAW, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana judge is allowing a man who 15 when he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the fatal shooting of his stepfather to enter home detention earlier than expected.

Kosciusko County Judge David Cates in October heard 23-year-old Colt Lundy's request for a sentence modification . Authorities say Lundy and a friend, 12-year-old Paul Gingerich, shot Philip Danner in his Cromwell home in April 2010.

The Warsaw Times-Union reports Cates will allow Lundy to finish his sentence out of prison starting March 15. He later will be on probation. Lundy's attorney, David Kolbe, says it's a "successful outcome."

Both boys pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, and both were sentenced to 25 years. Gingerich was released from prison last year after spending seven years behind bars.
