Culture all around the suburbs, if you look for it
Thank you for pointing out the new Hey Nonny restaurant and music venue in Arlington Heights. It is an excellent listening room and, yes, a nice addition to downtown Arlington Heights.
However, that same "Our View" article stated that, "Used to be you had to go to the city to get your dose of culture." I beg to differ.
There is a plethora of excellent venues for folk, acoustic, blues, bluegrass, and rock venues out here in the suburbs. Live music is presented on a regular basis in restaurants, bars, churches (usually called coffee houses) and house concerts in people's homes. One does not have to venture downtown and spend a fortune to hear their favorites.
I can't list all of the suburban music venues, because it would greatly exceed the 300 word maximum for these letters. The Herald should know about them, since most send news releases for every concert - usually to no avail.
If someone wants to see whose playing where, he/she can go to the blog site, chicagonow.com, and find "acoustic music in Chicago." The shows are out there, as they have been for decades.
