False claims about ties to Madigan
Congressional candidate Sean Casten is portrayed by the Republican incumbent as being in cahoots with Mike Madigan. This is fake news. Seems the days of political campaign rhetoric are long gone, being replaced by outright lies. Democratic candidate Casten has never met Mike Madigan, and has never held an elected government office. He has not "sided with Madigan" like "two sides of the same coin."
Voters who choose candidates based on TV ads need to do more careful research before making their candidate choices. Find the truth. A very reasonable resource for truthful information is provided by newspaper editorial endorsements. Investigative time spent and candidate interviews are carefully prepared to help citizens sort out who deserves to be in elected seats.
An important detail to remember is that our national debt is now more that $27 trillion, up 17 percent in just 2018, totally due to the famous tax cuts given this year. The claim that these cuts would reduce the deficit is as false as the claim that trickle down works. The "Greatest Generation" worked hard to not leave debt to the younger generations. Now the Boomers (myself included) are leaving a staggering debt for the next three generations behind us.
And let's not forget the Illinois state debt. Come on, people. Taxes must be raised, not cut. Better governing is necessary, as well as creating more jobs, so that a larger payer base helps lower these gargantuan debts. Stop this debacle of unbalanced budgets that legislators are propagating on America. Vote smarter.
