McHenry County College board appoints two new interim trustees
The McHenry County College board has appointed two new interim trustees - David Domek and Mary Beth Siddons - to newly available seats, replacing former trustees Linda Liddell and Ron Parrish.
Domek and Siddons have a rich history in McHenry County and extensive experience serving on boards, officials said.
Domek, founder and partner in Domek Logistics LLC out of Crystal Lake, started the international logistics company nearly a decade ago.
Siddons also brings a business perspective to the board with more than 25 years of leadership experience in manufacturing and the tool and diagnostics industry, including Illinois Tool Works and Snap-on Inc. An MCC distinguished alumna, Siddons has served as guest speaker at former commencement ceremonies. She also has been a longtime supporter of the college's Education to Empowerment program and established a scholarship for veterans.
"We were privileged to have a strong pool of candidates from which to select, and we truly appreciate the willingness of all of these community leaders to step up and volunteer their services," MCC Board chairman Mike Smith said. "We genuinely believe that the business and financial backgrounds that both Dave and Mary Beth bring to the board will make strong contributions to our governance and to the success of MCC as an institution."
Domek and Siddons were sworn in at a special meeting Monday. Their seats will be up for election in April when interested candidates can run for a full term.
Liddell, of Crystal Lake, was first elected in 2011. She announced her departure in September because she is moving out of state. Her current trustee term expires in 2023.
Parrish, of Woodstock, previously served as chairman of the MCC board. He said this week he is stepping down due to personal health issues. His term ends in 2021.
MCC is governed by a seven-member board elected to staggered 6-year terms, and has one nonvoting student trustee serving a one-year term.
Petition filing starts at 8 a.m. Dec. 10 and ends at 5 p.m. Dec. 17. Nomination packets are available between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the college president's office, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
