Ikes to discuss Elgin water supply Nov. 6
On Tuesday, Nov. 6, the Elgin Chapter of the Izaak Walton League invites the public to a program on Elgin's water resources at 7 p.m. at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center, 899 Jay St. in Elgin.
The speaker, Elgin's Mayor David Kaptain is uniquely qualified to speak about the importance of water in this area. He is a retired chief chemist and director of process control for the Fox River Reclamation District and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bradley University.
The presentation will cover 50 years of changes in Elgin's water supply, the Fox River and Poplar Creek. A brief look at why changes have occurred, the long and short term impacts on the environment, and financial solutions to a better future.

They sponsor both a Cub Pack and Boy Scout Troop. The Lodge is at the confluence of Willow and Poplar Creeks at 899 Jay St. Meetings and programs are held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center.
