West Dundee church welcomes interim pastor
First United Methodist Church in West Dundee welcomes the Rev. Gary Waters as interim pastor serving the congregation and community.
Rev. Waters served as the pastor at First UMC from 1998-2001, and they are overjoyed to announce his return.
Rev. Waters, originally from Rockford, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Marquette University and a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1993. He has been an elder in the United Methodist Church since 1995 and has served as a pastor since 1990. He and his wife, Amy, have two children.
Rev. Waters has served at Freeport First UMC, Northbrook UMC, as Associate at Belvidere UMC, McHenry First UMC, Mount Hope UMC, St. Thomas UMC of Glen Ellyn, and United Protestant Church of Grayslake.
The Rev. Waters follows the Rev. Carol Hill, who is moving to Park Ridge to serve as the Senior Minister of Park Ridge Community Church.
Rev. Waters will serve the congregation as interim until the assignment of the next elder, which is done by the Bishop and Cabinet of the Northern Illinois Conference.
