Barrington officials to discuss local sales tax proposal
Barrington village board members are hitting the road again to host a special meeting regarding a Nov. 6 ballot measure that'll ask voters whether a local 1 percent sales tax should be enacted.
Officials say the tax would generate up to $1 million in annual revenue to help pay for infrastructure upgrades, including improvements to village streets, parking lots and sidewalks.
The session is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Barrington's White House, 145 W. Main St. Officials will make a presentation and take audience questions.
Village officials held a similar session Oct. 16, at The Garlands of Barrington seniors complex.
