Girls cross country: St. Viator second at sectional
St. Viator's girls cross country team finished in second place Saturday at the Class 2A Fenton sectional to qualify for next weekend's state finals in Peoria.
The Lions scored 49 points, finishing behind Chicago Latin, which won the sectional title with 31 points.
Leading St. Viator's run were sophomore Katie Castelli, who took fourth place in a time of 18:44, and senior Payton McDonnell who was fifth in a time of 19:09.
Freshman Joy Bergstrom finished seventh for St. Viator in a time of 19:39 while senior Maura Hogaboom (16th, 20:30) and freshman Mary Grace Hegeberg (17th, 20:30) also scored.
Chicago U-High, Trinity and Chicago Solario also advanced as teams.
