Kane County
• Cynthia Herrera, 29, of the 600 block of Walnut Street, St. Charles, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed after a crash into a semi-truck about 4:24 a.m. Oct. 12 on the 7N200 block of Route 31 near South Elgin, according to a sheriff's report.
• Steven A. Linker, 39, of the 800 block of East Suffield Drive, Arlington Heights, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving while license expired, and failure to reduce speed after his vehicle struck a tree about 9:53 p.m. Oct. 15 on Route 20, about a mile west of Plank Road, near Elgin, according to a sheriff's report.
Carpentersville
• Melissa L. Booth, 31, of Sleepy Hollow, was charged Monday with retail theft, Carpentersville police said. She is accused of stealing $54 worth of merchandise from Walmart on Lake Marian Road.
• Kristina C. Viamantes, 32, of Carpentersville, was charged Monday with retail theft, police said. She is accused of stealing $29 worth of groceries from Walmart.
• An Elgin girl was charged Sunday with retail theft, Carpentersville records show. She is accused of stealing jewelry and nail polish from Kohl's in Spring Hill Mall.
• A 2013 Hyundai Elantra was reported stolen Saturday from a driveway in the 100 block of Amarillo Drive, police said.
• Carpentersville residents Sylvia A. Jones, 27, and Shaquilra, T. Allen, 25, were charged Saturday with retail theft, police said. They are accused of stealing $51 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
• Leanne T. Betancourt, 35, of Elgin, was charged Saturday with retail theft, Carpentersville records show. She is accused of under-ringing $191 worth of merchandise at Walmart's self-checkout lane. • A resident reported Friday that a man approached her vehicle with a handgun and demanded that she get out of the car on Hazard Road, police said. She drove away as he was reaching for the door handle.
